After coming home, I continued to wear the binder frequently for the first three months postpartum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After giving birth, <strong>wearing a binder <em>greatly <\/em>reduced the odd feeling as if my organs were going to fall out, any discomfort, and relying too much on my back muscles <\/strong>to compensate for my weakened core. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wearing a binder was very helpful at home during the early days of carrying a newborn<\/strong>. One thing I did not expect after giving birth is how weird it would feel laying on my side while my body healed.. as if all of my organs were shifting to one side. Wearing compression underwear at night greatly reduced this discomfort!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(2) The <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3qVRBQl\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3qVRBQl\" target=\"_blank\">Wing Maternity Postpartum Girdle <\/a><\/strong>is excellent <strong>for wearing when you want more freedom of movement than is possible with an abdominal binder<\/strong>, but would still appreciate the support that a compression garment can offer- such as when grocery shopping in public. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Fourth Trimester Companion<\/h4>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Fourth-Trimester-Companion-Family-Welcome\/dp\/1558328874?dchild=1&amp;keywords=The+Fourth+Trimester+Companion&amp;qid=1625810740&amp;sr=8-1&amp;linkCode=li3&amp;tag=theharunaho05-20&amp;linkId=1d7e8d6a31fbd0d7afd72d3733dd31ab&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_il\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/widgets\/q?_encoding=UTF8&amp;ASIN=1558328874&amp;Format=_SL250_&amp;ID=AsinImage&amp;MarketPlace=US&amp;ServiceVersion=20070822&amp;WS=1&amp;tag=theharunaho05-20&amp;language=en_US\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>After reading Cynthia Gabriel&#8217;s book Natural Hospital Birth (<strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/theharunafamily.com\/home\/2021\/02\/10\/preparing-for-childbirth\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/theharunafamily.com\/home\/2021\/02\/10\/preparing-for-childbirth\/\" target=\"_blank\">see here<\/a><\/strong>), I enjoyed its follow-up, <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3AJ6U3h\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3AJ6U3h\" target=\"_blank\">The Fourth Trimester Companion<\/a><\/strong>. This book, that is especially designed for postpartum moms, features topics such as <strong>sleep, emotions, infant care, relationships with parents and in-laws, changes with pets and baby&#8217;s siblings<\/strong>, and more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I appreciated reading a book <em>specifically written<\/em> on the three months of the postpartum &#8220;fourth trimester&#8221;. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I feel that often<strong> the postpartum period is breezed over in books written about pregnancy<\/strong>, despite that this period of recovery and healing that overlaps with the newborn period can be notoriously challenging, and full of transitions and changes.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reading helped me to take the recovery more in stride. The following is my list of items that didn&#8217;t make the cut.. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Nursing tank-tops: <\/strong>They look useful in pictures, but in practicality, they just didn&#8217;t serve a purpose for me! <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Nursing pillows:<\/strong> I have two different types of nursing pillows, but so far I&#8217;ve only ever found myself using them a handful of times. This comes down to personal preference.. but I find it easier to nurse without a pillow in the way. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Witch hazel pads:<\/strong> I&#8217;ve heard so many good things about using witch hazel pads, but did not use them as much as I anticipated. They did come in handy during labor, though, when I had sensitive skin from induction meds that gave me diarrhea. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Postpartum pants:<\/strong> I have a pair of postpartum pants, but I just did not find them that comfortable, and much preferred leggings and dresses!
