I often hear people say that they wouldn’t want to change their lifestyle to be more simple and slow because it would be too “boring”.

But, what if boring is what we NEED?

Boredom comes before penning novels, composing concertos, dreaming up inventions, and painting on canvases. Yet now, we run from it and head-first into every possible distraction.

So, if you’ve read this far: consider setting a timer for 5 minutes and reminding yourself what it feels like to be bored.. and let me know what happens as a result 🥰

My husband and I will have been together for 8 years this month, and have been through many different seasons of life..

Health challenges.
Miscarriages.
Moves.
Job changes.
Babies.
Home reform.

And while seasons and stressors may ebb and flow, marriage can never be put “on pause”.

Your expectations for every season may vary, but being in a busier season is not an excuse to stop prioritizing your marriage.

Strong marriages do not happen by chance!!

Here are some of our favorite ways to prioritize our relationship:

1. Having screen-less meals at the table
2. Setting a bedtime schedule for our kids
3. Praying together
4. Communicating about conflict rather than going to bed angry
5. Mini-dates at home (indoor movie nights with snacks, etc.)

that all of your problems disappear,

that you stop making mistakes,

But, it is also not the year that you stop growing, or quit learning.

This is a year to make new memories, try new things, become wiser, and more prayerful.

One to view with gratitude, because not a day of breath in our lungs should be taken for granted.

This is a year to reject mediocrity, but also find joy in the mundane.

To celebrate and savor the simple.

To not be defined or defeated by short-lived resolutions, but instead to live with daily resolve and intention that bears good fruit in its season.
