We’re Expecting – Again!

January 22, 2023

I’ve been quiet on the blog for a while, and with good reason..

Shortly after my last post, I found out that we are expecting – again!

I am currently 18 weeks and 4 days pregnant, and it has been a rough few months!! Although it has been exciting settling into our new home, the first trimester can be brutal, and there have been a lot of changes to our home, and many other ups and downs.

Here are a few of the things we have been up to so far:

  • A wood-stove was installed in the living room
  • The kitchen was overhauled (it’s still nowhere near done, but it’s getting there!!)
  • Masashi and a friend worked on cutting firewood together
  • We unpacked many more boxes since the move
  • We started painting trim in 2 rooms in the house
  • We cleaned many of the downstairs tatami mats
  • Two bedrooms were reformed
  • We FINALLY got a water heater installed (I might share more about this later!)
  • Masashi and a neighbor started prepping the rice fields for next planting season
  • We had the roughest batch of sickness we’ve had in the last 3 years

Last year (2022) was a very full, challenging, and exciting year for so many reasons. However, the best surprise of all is definitely that we are pregnant again!!

We are so excited to meet our second son, Josiah, sometime around his due date of June 21st, 2023!!

We never expected to be able to have a healthy pregnancy so soon after our last.. before the healthy birth of our first son and “rainbow baby”, we experienced 2 losses, years of secondary infertility, and 1 additional loss.

This pregnancy has truly been miraculous, and although the last few months have been rough, things seem to be easing up much earlier than with our first son’s pregnancy, which is a huge blessing!

And.. I have a project that I’ve been working on and look forward to sharing more about soon!!

It looks like 2023 is going to be just as full (if not more so!) than last year, and we can’t wait to see what happens!
